Welcome to JJB Counselling and Psychotherapy

“...the past is part of your present consciousness-it forms the spectacles through which you experience the present.”

— Irvin Yalom (1996) Lying on the Couch

Hello, I am Jackie

Well done for wanting to seek out counselling / psychotherapy to help you to explore what is holding you back from living a fulfilling life.

I started my therapeutic journey in 2010 during my training to be a counsellor / psychotherapist, and I have never looked back since. It encouraged me to look at myself differently and given me the confidence to make big changes within my life. I now know what it feels like for someone to listen to me, understand, and to take an interest in what I had to say. This special journey has also given me the insight and passion to help others who are struggling with life's demands.

With my own learnt experience, I can be beside other people to guide them along on their own therapeutic journey, to explore their potential of change and growth; to embrace their strengths, and to be able to process their feelings and thoughts about their own vulnerabilities in a safe and confidential space.

I am a full member of the BACP, and adhere to their ethical standards and professional guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • BA (Hons) Counselling University of Greenwich 2015
  • FdSc Counselling University of Greenwich 2014
  • NCFE Levels 1-3 in Counselling Skills and Theory 2012

My approach

My approach is relational, whereby I believe the therapeutic relationship between us is the key to enable your therapy to be successful.

Allowing patience, self-belief, and compassion to be your companions, our work together can give you the opportunity to make those all important changes that are needed to help you and your life to grow. I offer a safe space which is confidential and non-judgemental for long or short term duration.

I offer 50 minute sessions, usually on a weekly basis, at a cost of £50.00 per session. I work both face to face and online (Zoom) on Mondays (day) and Thursday mornings, and online only for early evenings Mon-Fri. I do have a limited number of concessions for low income clients, or students, according to availability at the time of contact.

I do have a session cancellation policy, whereby if you need to cancel a session I would require 48 hours’ notice, otherwise the full fee would be still chargeable. Payments are paid in advance by Bank transfer or cash on the day.

First contact is via email, whereby we can arrange for your initial free telephone chat for up to 30 minutes to discuss your needs further for therapy, and to see whether I would be a good fit for you.

I offer face-to-face sessions from my practice in Salisbury, welcoming clients from Amesbury, Southampton, Shaftesbury, Marlborough, and the surrounding areas.

In addition to in-person sessions, I also provide online sessions via Zoom, allowing me to support clients no matter where they are. Please contact me to find out more or to arrange a session.
